Why did I say that?!thought Aarti, who accuses a potential husband of having illegitimate children and expects them to still like them?
Aarti felt like she had embarrassed herself and was sure that he was looking at her differently. She’d tried her hardest to move on from the whole wife beater thing and laugh at his life sentence joke, but she definitely felt that something had shifted. His eyes were smiling less, perhaps it was all in her mind.
She’d already messed up, should she just bite the bullet and ask about Payal, or should she try and hide the crazy?
“Penny for your thoughts…” said Raj while taking an enthusiastic bite of his sandwich.
Aarti had barely touched her food, she felt foolish, but was trying her hardest to be herself. “I was just wondering whether you’re the type of guy who likes to share?”
“Women, definitely not, food, sometimes!” he said while offering her his plate.
“I meant, would you like to help me finish all this food?” she giggled.
He smiled eagerly “That’s my favourite kind of sharing.” He leaned forward and helped himself to her leftovers. “So Aarti tell me what does a guy have to do to get your number?”
“Well he has to ask, for a start.”
“I did ask, you said no…” Raj raised his eyebrows.
“Ummm, well you could ask again and see if you get a different response?” she said playfully.
“I don’t ask twice.”
“Well, you don’t ask, you don’t get.” she teased.
“You could write it down and slip it into my pocket and neither of us need mention it again!” He leaned forward and gestured toward his breast pocket for effect.
“Is this an excuse to get me to touch you?” she said cheekily.
“Girls usually cant keep their hands off me!” he teased back.
“Perhaps you’re losing your touch…”
